So, tomorrow it´s finally time to go, the trip has felt distant so long, but now when it´s really happening I feel like I still have things to take care of. 3 weeks I´ll be gone first time before I go back to start my volunteering work. It can be good to get a feel for the country first. The last vaccination was taken on Thursday, over and done with! Now it´s just my cold which has to pass, won´t be that fun to disturb people on the flight with coughing and a runny nose.
Volontärresor sent me a package full of books and information about South Africa, and a map! Was a really nice surprise!
The ticket dilemma is solved, thanks to volontärresor. They are so sweet, and changed the name on the ticket for me.

Börjat lägga saker i resväskan / Started packing my suitcase
I know it´s two months until I go to Africa, and almost three months until my volunteering project starts, but the suitcase is ready on the floor, and a few things have already slipped into it. Think it has to do with the fact that we just came back from our last rip, and it felt so unnecessary to put it away. So what do one need in South Africa then? Right now it´s about 18 degrees Celsius there, Sean, my husband who went down last Friday told me. My first thought is mosquito nets, but guess they will be selling them down there, and at a better price. The ticket arrived yesterday, and it´s starting to get to me that I will be working with children, and I´m lacking imagination and I´m looking for more English nursery rhymes and songs, also games to do, does anybody have any suggestions?

Butterflies in my belly
The trip was won five months ago, and I´ve been walking around with constant butterflies in my belly and a smile on my lips when I think about my upcoming trip to Cape town in South Africa. There I will be working in an orphanage in the outskirts of the city, in a place called Athlone with children aged 0-4. The feeling is overwhelming since it´s so new and exciting, and I can imagine it will be very emotional, both ways, but it just feels so right.
So who is going on this trip then, you ask? Well, my name is Karolina and I am 28 years old. I live in Nynäshamn, Sweden with my fiancé Sean (whom I´m marrying in 18 days!) and my 7 year old daughter Julia, and I work as a care assistant for a disabled woman.
First the plan was to go on my own on this trip - but then Sean got a work offer in the same town. Funny - it must be fate! He will be there for a year though, and I for two months, although me and Julia will visit him this summer first, so we get a feeling of the place. Then she will stay at her daddy´s place in Sweden when I go down again. It can be nice to have Sean down there with me during these life turning weeks, for where else would I turn for support when my friends and family are on another continent?
Well well, the butterflies in my belly will probably turn into large African elephants in the coming months, there is a while to go though - 3 months... but good things come to those who wait...
